Our Ground

Golcar United play at the currently named Skye Direct Stadium on Longfield Avenue, Golcar which has a capacity of 1,320. It has been our home since the 1955 and underwent a major transformation beginning in 2019 when the club made the decision to become semi professional and enter the Northern Counties leagues.

The Skye Direct Stadium currently has 2 covered standing terraces, an open terrace, a 100-seat stand, a club shop, a bar and hot food counter.

More information on match days at the Skye Direct Stadium is available here.

Recent Years: 2019-

In 2019, the club were accepted into the North West Counties Football League Division One and challenged at semi-professional level for the first time in our history.

After 2 curtailed seasons in 2019/20 and 2020/21, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Golcar United completed our first full season in 2021/22 and continued our success story by winning against Holker Old Boys, where we were cheered on by more than 300 of our loyal supporters in Barrow-in-Furness, in the Play-Off final which resulted in promotion to the North West Counties Premier Division.

Owing to our geographical location, the football authorities then placed the club laterally to the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, where we still compete today. The club reached the NCEL League Cup Final in 2023.
